| |
| When should I rent a tep? |
To ensure availability and reduce shipping expenses we recommend placing orders at least 10 days prior to your travel departure date. However, you can still place orders closer to your departure date. |
| |
| All looks very interesting, but I'm not ready to place an order yet? |
Not a problem. If you are not ready to place an order, set a tep reminder and we will be in contact closer to your travel dates. Click on the remind link of the top right of the page. |

| |

| We are able to deliver devices to the UK, Europe and the US. |
| |
| Where can I receive my order? |
It very much depends on what you want.
|
 |
Tep will deliver to your home up to 4 days before your departure. If you have any preferred dates, don’t hesitate to inform us as we can arrange to meet your requirements. All deliveries are signed for and require someone present to receive the package. We deliver next day to all US addresses, all UK addresses and to major European cities. |
 |
We also can deliver to your destination in Europe and the USA. We will ensure the device arrives before you, so it is available immediately as you settle in. Please provide us with hotel reservation information or the name of the person, which will receive the package to ensure the package is accepted on delivery. |
 |
Finally, you can pick up your tep directly at major Airports around the world, including London Heathrow, London Gatwick, New York JFK, Los Angeles LAX, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt Airport, Madrid Barajas, Amsterdam Schipol and Rome Fiumicino. Situated in the arrivals hall of the terminals (landside), our pick up desks are with our local partners. Information on where to locate the desks and how to retrieve packages is provided upon confirmation of your order. |
|
| |
| What do I receive? |
You will receive a package containing:
|
 |
Your tep device (either a smartphone or pocket wifi - or both, if you've selected both!) |
 |
Full battery, country charger and a set of instructions |
 |
USB connection cable (available only for pocket wifi) |
 |
Pre-paid return envelope |
 |
Optional additional battery and car charger |
|
| |
| I open the package and.. what next? |
You switch it on and begin to use it - it's that simple! Your tep device will already have a full battery and include your airtime or data allowance. |
| |
| What happens if my tep stops working? |
In the unlikely event that this may happen, please contact us asap. We will first try to solve the problem remotely. If this is not possible, we will offer to replace your tep. |
| |
| Can I extend my rental period? |
| Of course you can. Simply touch base with us so we can update your rental period. |
| |
| I'll be travelling to a territory which is not part of the list of countries that tep currently covers. Can I do this? |
You can but we do not recommend it as our service is specifically designed to be used in those countries which we cover. In the event that you do this, we would ask you to please contact us beforehand to seek advice. |
| |
|
|
|
| return |
| |
 |
Post back with the pre-paid envelope we include or return at our pick up desks at London Airports.
|
| It's the end of my rental date. How do I return my tep? |
By using the pre-paid envelope we include and posting it back before from the country where you collected it or had it delivered to you. Please make sure that the device and all of its equipment is inserted in the pre-paid postage envelope and that the package is properly sealed. |
| |
| I want to post it off from the airport. Is this possible? |
Yes, but only at London Heathrow and London Gatwick airports. The return desks are located with our local partner at the Airport, the Excess Baggage Company. Their desks are located in the arrivals halls of each terminal (landside). |
| |
| I collected the device from one of tep's collection points. Can I drop it off there? |
| We're afraid this is not possible in all locations. It is only possible to return at the Excess Baggage Company desks in London at Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport and Paddington Station. Other pick up points do not accept returns. |
| |
| I forgot to post my tep and have returned back home with it. What do I do? |
First you must notify us so we are aware. This is very important.
Next, we will ask you to send the tep device together with all of its contents via post or courier back to our central office in London, UK.
Please be aware that you'll have to face the cost of this delivery. |
| |
| What happens if I run away with my tep and never return it? |
Well …this is not ideal! In the event that this were to happen, we would have to charge you a penalty fee. |

 |
| smartphone |
| |
| What is a tep smartphone? |
It's a mobile phone rental service that allows you to have a local number to make and receive calls, access the Internet and emails, enjoy useful travel Apps (e.g. Google maps), completely avoid international roaming charges and pay only local rates. |
| |
| How much airtime do I have? |
| The tep smartphone will be pre-charged with the amount you selected when ordering the handset. |
| |
| How can I find out how much credit I have left? |

| |
| I'm running out of credit. How can I add more? |
You can add additional airtime allowance to your tep smartphone at any stage before or during your rental period. Simply contact us and provide your personal details so we can process the order. Please note that our European service is postpaid, meaning that you pay the bill for calls and texts at the end of your rental period. |
| |
| What happens to the data I leave on my tep smartphone? How does tep ensure data privacy? |
Immediately after the handset is returned, all tep devices go through a data eraser process, ensuring that no personal information remains on them. |

| pocket wifi |
| |
|
| What is a pocket wifi? |
It's a wireless modem that connects anything Wi-Fi enabled, like an iPhone, laptop or tablet, to 3G Internet. It requires no installation, cables or software. It works like a Wi-Fi hotspot, but it's personal and fits in your pocket. Thus the name, pocket wifi! |
| |
| What exactly can I connect the pocket wifi to? |
The pocket wifi works with any Wi-Fi enabled devices: laptops, smartphones (e.g. iPhone, Androids) or tablets (e.g. iPad, Samsung Galaxy). |
| |
| How do I connect my device to the pocket wifi? |
You must first open the wireless network menu of your laptop, smartphone or tablet. You'll then have to select the tep network and enter the 8-digit password we provide you. Then simply click on "connect" and you're there! |
| |
| |
| How much data do I have? |
The data plans we provide can vary depending on the country you are using it in.
Unlimited Internet plans area available in Italy, France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
In the several European mainland countries, however, we are only able to provide a maximum allowance of 50 MB per day. This is made effective from midnight until the following midnight (24 hours in total), EU time.
|
| |
| How much is “unlimited” internet? |
Tep works with mobile network operators that in most cases set rules and regulations with regards to data consumption. As a result, the term “unlimited” is benchmarked against a fair limit, restricting over-consumption to help the mobile network operators meet their commitment to their customers. As a consequence, all of tep’s “unlimited” allowances are subjected to a Fair Usage policy.
The Fair Usage policy imposed is based on our estimation of the average consumption levels, and should therefore be sufficient for the typical user. Please that if you engage in heavy file downloading and or online streaming activities you face a risk of exceeding the fair usage policy. If you do reach this limit, we will get in touch with you and remind you of your consumption.
See the section “Fair Usage Policy” in the Rental Agreement for more information. In addition, feel free to contact us if you need further assistance.
|
| |
| How can I see how much data I have already used on my tep pocket wifi? |
Each tep pocket wifi keeps track of data consumed, and displays it in real time on the screen of the device. Be aware that this figure resets if the device is turned off.
|
| |
| What are the pocket wifi daily plans and limits? |
Some pocket wifi plans have daily megabyte ("MB") allowances. Whilst booking your tep you can find the plans allowance details after selecting the rental dates in the shopping cart page. Once booked, you can find the details of your plan in the confirmation email. Please note that if you plan is unlimited this section does not apply to you.
We currently have the following daily plans available:
-
-
Pocket wifi (UK) -
150 MB/day (cumulative)
- Pocket wifi (Italy)
- 150 MB/day (fixed)
- Pocket wifi (Europe)
- 50 MB/day or 150MB/day (fixed)
Cumulative means that the data (e.g. MB's) can be consumed at your discretion - evenly throughout the rental period, or in one sitting - unused data for a day rolls over to the next.
Fixed means that unused data expires at the end of the day, it doesn't not roll over to the next. |
| |
| What happens if I exceed a daily plan? |
If you exceed the specified daily plan limit you will per charged the following rate per MB:
Italy: EUR 0.04 per MB
United Kingdom: £0.03 per MB
Europe - Multiple Countries*: EUR 1.25 per MB
Please note that in the case of Europe Multiple Countries 50 MB/day or 150 MB/day plans we provide a daily buffer of 3 MB beyond the plans limit. |
| |
| What happens if I exceed the Fair Usage policy? |
If you reach the Fair usage limit, tep reserves the right to charge the further consumption as follows:
Europe - Multiple Countries: EUR 1.25 per MB
Germany: EUR 0.27 per MB
Italy: EUR 0.04 per MB
Spain: EUR 0.07 per MB
United Kingdom: £ 0.03 per MB
* Please note Europe includes Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Switzerland and Europe Multiple Country related products.
|
| |
| Can I have a history of my calls/texts/data usage? |
Up to a limit, yes! Because tep does not operate the mobile network on which calls/texts/data are made/used, we do not have our own private log of consumption. We must therefore get in touch with the relevant operator and request it from them.
For this reason, we can give you a history up to a maximum of 7 days, as long as you ask us less than 1 week after your rental period is over!
See section “Private Data” in the Rental Agreement for more information. |
| |
| |
| Are 50 MB of data per day enough? |
This very much depends on your usage. It's enough for the occasional laptop or tablet daily web browsing or email sending. However, engaging in online activities such as file downloading or online streaming will result in a rapid consumption of the allowance. Additionally, 50 MB is ample data for frequent web browsing, email and application usage on Smartphones. |
| |
| Can I use the pocket wifi for VoiP calls (e.g. Skype or Facetime)? |
You can make VoIP calls with the pocket wifi services for Italy, Spain and the UK. With the pocket wifi service for Europe and all other destinations you can only make VoIP calls if you upgrade to the 150 MB /day plan. |
| |
| What is the connection speed? |
The speed can vary depending of the strength of the signal. On average, the connection speed is 5.6Mbps but can reach a maximum of 7.2Mbps. |
| |
| Can I share my hotspot with other Wi-Fi enabled devices at the same time? |
You can with a maximum of 5 devices at the same time. Naturally, the speed will be split between the devices and the rate of data consumption will rise. |
| |
| Do I need to un-lock or jailbreak my phone for it to work with the pocket wifi? |
No need for that. The pocket wifi is a Wi-Fi connection, so it will work even if your phone is locked. |
| |
